The structure of the universal stress protein in Methanocaldococcus jannaschii (MJ0557) forms a dimer. The protein view represents side chain A which is involved in ATP binding. The protein is highly conserved towards the middle region and is represented by the purple and pink color schemes.   The outside region of the protein is highly variable as indicated by the shades of dark and light blue. The binding sites can be found in the middle of each dimer. The image can be obtained from the ConSurf Server at housed at that allows identification of functionally conserved regions in proteins.
