This is Sai Keerthana Wuppalapati and I am into BCMB this fall. I am from India and I completed my undergraduation from Sri Ramachandra University, Chennai, India in Biomedical Sciences and I have specialized in Human Genetics.

I got my undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Central Arkansas. I worked as a lab technician in an Environmental Engineering Lab at Virginia Tech. Now I am in my first year of Ph d studies at the University of Tennessee Knoxville. I am in the Microbiology department, and I am currently rotating through labs and deciding on a dissertation project. So far I have carried out molecular engineering of green hydrocarbons as a product in the Sayler lab. I am now getting ready to start a rotation through Karen Lloyd lab where I will use Bioinformatic techniques to analysis single cell genomic data from subsurface marine microbial samples. I also have secured an NSF Traineeship through a program called SCALE-IT. In SCALE-IT, we are trained in valuable computer science techniques and participate in group programs to deliver research at the intersection of biological sciences and computer sciences.
