This workshop is for Mass Bay Community College faculty interested in quantitative reasoning and its application in contemporary problem solving. To support the observation, experimentation and modeling of data, the Numbers Count workshop introduces data, tools, and curricular materials for use with undergraduates. The major topics here will concern medical data, visualization, modeling, and error control in the collection of data.

In the age of Big Data, students must grapple with mathematical models, tools, and quantitative reasoning as they prepare for the workplace. As science and technology advance, the rapid acquisition of data frames an evolving intersection between mathematics and science. The use of data in our courses must be accompanied by opportunities to develop quantitative reasoning and familiarity with mathematical models.
