Travel Directions to Beloit College, Beloit, WI

The Accommodations:
Beloit College is a small (1,235 full-time students), four year, residential liberal arts college located in Beloit, Wisconsin -- about 100 miles northwest of Chicago. The campus is located within a few blocks of downtown Beloit, with easy access to restaurants and stores, including a farmer's market on Saturday mornings. Workshop participants will be housed on-campus, in single rooms in a recently renovated, air conditioned dormitory. All meals will be provided. You will have access to all of the College's facilities, including full use of the Sports Center which features Fitness Center, Handball, Racquetball, and Wallyball Courts, Indoor Track, Tennis, Saunas, Swimming Pool and Training Room.

Because of the residential nature of the workshop, it is not necessary for participants to bring or rent a car. See below for information on traveling to Beloit.

Traveling to Beloit

Beloit is located on Interstate 90, on the Wisconsin and Illinois state line. That puts us 50 miles south of Madison, 75 miles southwest of Milwaukee, and 100 miles northwest of downtown Chicago.

By Plane
If you'll be flying, we recommend using Chicago's O'Hare International Airport. There is a very convenient bus service that runs between Beloit and O'Hare Airport and it is not necessary to rent a car. The Van Galder Buses (schedule and fare info) pick up passengers at both the International Terminal and O'Hare's Bus/Shuttle Center and drop off passengers at the Ramada Inn in South Beloit, 1.5 miles from campus. Let us know when you'll be arriving and we will arrange for transportation between the bus stop and the campus.

By Train
From the Chicago Amtrak Station, take the Van Galder Bus Service (schedule and fare info) to Beloit.

By Bus
In addition to the service between Chicago and Beloit, the Van Galder Buses also provide service between Beloit and Madison, WI. Greyhound buses also make convenient stops just off Interstate 90 on their routes from Chicago, Madison, Green Bay, and Minneapolis. The bus stop is about three miles from the College, and we will be happy to arrange transportation to campus if we are given advanced notice of your scheduled arrival time.

By Car
From I-90 (Chicago or Madison): If you're arriving via I-90, take exit 185A and go west. This puts you at the southernmost end of I-43, which becomes Milwaukee Road in Beloit. After the railroad crossing, follow the left-turn sign, and stay on Milwaukee Road until you get to Chapin Street. Turn right. Go five blocks until you run into College Street. You'll see Middle College directly in front of you. (Watch for city signs to direct you along this route.)

From I-43 (Milwaukee): Interstate 43 becomes Milwaukee Road as you reach the southernmost end. Continue traveling on Milwaukee Road for approximately 2 miles into the city of Beloit. After the railroad crossing, follow the left-turn sign, and stay on Milwaukee Road until you get to Chapin Street. Turn right. Go five blocks until you run into College Street. You'll see Middle College directly in front of you. (Watch for city signs to direct you along this route.)
