Valuing Variable Variegation


Microbes would remain under-explored if we limited our observations to those that could be successfully cultured in the laboratory. Computational methods are useful with field populations as well as with colonies in a Petri dish. To determine if a pattern of a viral infection in a leaf is random, we will examine data provided by image capture and visualization techniques.

  • mathematically analyze the leaves of the leopard plant whose “spots” result from in situ viral populations
