I am the current director of the BioQUEST Curriculum Consortium which actively supports educators interested in the reform of undergraduate biology and engages in the collaborative development of curricula. As co-editor of the Bioscene: Journal of College Biology Teaching, I am pleased to invite submissions to the journal and encourage you to learn more about ACUBE, the Association of College and University Educators. Among my current projects is an EOT-PACI (Education, Outreach and Training - Partnership for Advanced Computational Infrastructure) grant to support the use of computational tools and resources in undergraduate education. Much of the BioQUEST effort has been with the NCSA (National Center for Supercomputing Applications) at University of Illinois-Champaign/Urbana to introduce the Biology Workbench interface to tools and databases useful for bioinformatics education. I am
also co-PI with Margaret Waterman of an NSF supported project, LifeLines
OnLine: Accessible Investigative
Biology for Community College emphasizing
case-based biology for community colleges. Over forty cases developed
by participants are accessible on the site which includes support
for writing and using cases in the classroom. Past Projects: Visual Learning in the Field
